Birthing the Rattles

July 28, 2009

In preparation for birthing my rattles, my spiritual guidance surrounded me.  I had been given the vision of birthing the rattles during a sacred fire ceremony which would take place with a circle of women whom I’d been doing shamanic journeys with for 5 weeks.

As I gathered wood for our fire ceremony I received several messages (I’ve heard some people do not trust in what they hear for they believe it is themselves talking or something their mind makes up.  For me and many people, it is the voice of creator, spirit, God, what ever you choose to call a Higher Power.  I trust the voice I hear to guide my journey in life).  (more…)

Decorating my Rattles

July 21, 2009

Meaning making of decorating my rattles was a profound as making the heads were.  My rattles are similar in their decorations but hold very different meanings.  Both have deer hooves as the handles.  The masculine deer hoof is scared, wounded and even had some fur coming off in the process of the making because it had not dried properly.  (more…)

As I continue my journey to heal the wounded feminine side of myself, my rattle making took on new meaning.

Robberies are rampant. Emotional, Verbal, Physical, Sexual, Child, Teen, and Elderly abuse is on the rise. (more…)

Self Care during economic stress

March 30, 2009

You can’t help but hear all the news of our economy. It’s everywhere you turn, on the TV, newspapers, in every conversation at the coffee shop, with friends, at work… etc. It’s just hard to escape the dire situation we face in the United States and around the world.

In these trying times I have found many people forget about the one thing that will see them through the trials and tribulationsof the times. Spirit! We tend to put more stress on ourselves and spend more time tuning into the onslaught of negative media and tough economic times than we do to listening to what our soul and spirit needs.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, it’s time to take a look at how you take care of yourself.  It’s time to stop and listen to what your body and soul is telling you.  (more…)

Horses: Bring order to emotional chaos

March 24, 2009

A horse is a horse of course, of course… but it can be used in a powerful way to teach us valuable life lessons

Horses are natural teachers – if we allow them to be.  They are prey animals.  This means that in the wild they are constantly on the look out for threats of any kind.  They must be keenly aware of their surroundings to survive.

When we interact with horses we can learn incredible lessons about ourselves by using the horse’s keen awareness to gather information about how we interact with our world and others.  (more…)
